"Riders, start your engines!"  We're testing acceleration here, by lining up all (or as many as is practical) of the boats along the starting line, waving the flag, and lettin' 'em fly.  A 100m course is sufficient to determine who gets up to speed quickest, and hydrofoils should have no trouble achieving flight midway through the run.  Times aren't usually tracked, but placing is determined at the finish line for allocating points in the event.  The lining up process can be tricky if there's any wind or current, because many HPBs don't have the ability to "reverse".
